Using the Color Coach

I struggle with colors.  Granted, I know what I *like*, but to sit down and match colors or contrast colors or whatever artistic people do with such grace pretty much escapes me.  Voila!  Stampin' Up! has a solution to that - our Color Coach.  The Color Coach is an index card system that lists all our beautiful colors and gives you combinations to use those colors with.  For this card, I wanted to accent the Rich Razzleberry of the first card layer.  My Color Coach suggested using Early Espresso and Pretty in Pink.  Definitely would NEVER have thought to use EE, but don't you just LOVE the results??  I used some cardstock & DSP scraps for the flower.  My daughter, who is 16 and my favorite crafting partner, has been making these layered flower embellishments lately using the Five Petal Punch, so I sorta stole her idea :)  I also used the leaf stem from the Bird builder punch, the Tulip Frame embossing folder, and the Modern Label and Word Window punches.  Finally, I used white craft ink to stamp an image from the Flower Fest set and Teeny Tiny Wishes for the sentiment.  I used my favorite ribbon, the Seam Binding, in Always Artichoke and some Pearl embellishments for a few finishing touches.  Like I said, "Voila!"

Silly Owls

Last week I mentioned my friend with the brain tumor.  My goal is to send her a card a week, silly or not.   So here's this week's attempt at humor.  Inside each card so far I also used a stamp I have that says "Keep Calm and Carry On" - thought Lex would get a kick out of that :)

Happy stamping!

Butterflies for Alexis

Sometimes life just straight up sucks.  I just found out a former co-worker has a brain tumor.  Alexis has two young daughters and a husband.  She moved out of the area within this last year because of her husband's job.  Everything was going great - the FB updates are awesome (nice house, lovely area, etc. etc.)  I didn't work with her much when they lived up here because we were always on different shifts, but this girl has a smile on her face no matter WHAT was going on!  If it's unfair for anybody to have a brain tumor, this would be the kid.  Anyway, I wanted to mail her a card with lots of butterflies and bright colors.  She doesn't want sympathy.  She's already talking about kicking this tumor's A**.  Pray for her, will you?

Sage Shadow Fancy

Soooo, my DD16 & I went to a stamp/scrapbook show today in Monroeville.  Have to say I was really disappointed in most of the vendors, but I WAS thrilled to find these GORGEOUS dies - the embossed frame & the large butterfly.  The stamps at the show - meh - Stampin' Up! is SO much better quality than anything I saw there!  I'll stick to SU!  for my stamps for sure!!

Anyway, this is what I was playing with tonight - hope you like it!

Happy stamping!
