Faux Mother-of-Pearl Stamping

Once again, I'm CASEing ;)  For those of you "on the fence" about signing up to be a demonstrator because you think you're "not creative" - believe me, there are plenty of techniques out there that you can learn and "make your own"!  I personally have very few original ideas to teach my students, but just like them, there are so many techniques out there in internet-land that are new to me and new to them.  I don't think I'll ever run out of things to demonstrate using the CASE (Copy And Share Everything) philosophy :)  One of these days, when grad school is done, I hope to come up with some creative ideas of my own, to repay all I've learned from the many talented demos who so freely share their papercrafting talent.  In the meantime, here's another technique I just learned - again, CASEd from my adopted downline, Michon's, blog.  I went & Googled this technique after seeing Michon's example, and incorporated ideas from a couple of different demo blogs and videos to "make it my own".  Here's the result:

It's hard to photograph this technique, but can you see the "patina"?  This is a really impressive and beautiful effect, and SO super-easy!  I'll be scheduling this as a product-based technique class very soon, so keep an eye on my Events calendar at my demo website for details.

Here, I've used my favorite go-to stamp set, Elements of Style.  I may go back, flip this around, and add the hummingbird stamp from the set to the flowers.  Right now, I'm enjoying a little debate with myself as to what I'll use this little die cut on :)  Most likely, a card for my Mom - she loves flowers and birds <3

Happy stampin'!

Mailable Monday

Homework's done, finally had some time to stamp - it's a good evening!!

My Mailable Monday class is tomorrow night.  I had some different cards in mind for a couple of them, but one of my downline had a very cute card on her blog that I just had to CASE, and while I was at my mom's this weekend, I also spotted a card my sister-in-law Susan (former SU! demo) had made that caught my eye.  So, Plan A/Plan B :)  The point of Mailable Monday is to make cards that are pretty but mailable, nothing too "bling-y" or embellished - just lots of layers and textures that can still fit into an envelope.  Here's a sneak preview of the class cards:

Card 1 uses one of my favorite techniques, faux quilting, with the Square Lattice embossing folder:

I love the new Elegant Butterfly punch and coordinating stamp set, Papillon Potpourri.  Do you like the addition of the colored butterfly, looking like it landed on the card?  The sentiment is from Perfectly Penned, and was punched out with the Decorative Label punch.  Colors are Gumball Green, Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Tempting Turquoise, and Whisper White.

Card 2 is the one I CASED from my sister-in-law:

This one uses the Petals-a-Plenty embossing folder, a sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes, the Word Window and Decorative Label punches, and Midnight Muse cardstock, ink, and Stamp 'n Write marker.  It's simple but elegant.

Card 3 was CASED from an idea I saw from Michon, my adopted downline's blog.  She found this technique on Dawn Olchefske's website.

Of course, Dawn's card is way prettier than mine, and I think she's also "talked me into" putting Creative Elements on my "must have" list!  I used stamps from Mixed Bunch, Elements of Style, and Petite Pairs.  Colors are Regal Rose and Raspberry Ripple.

I've gotta say, it felt good to be creating again, even though it's a two out of three CASE job ;)

Now, what will YOU create this week?

Happy stampin'!

I REALLY Need to Stamp . . .

I have new stuff from the new catalog, and stamp sets that haven't even seen ink yet.  Stamping is therapy for me - it calms me, I love to create, and getting inky is just plain FUN!

So why haven't there been any new blog posts lately?  I HAVEN'T HAD TIME TO STAMP!!!!  Grr.

The past weekend flew by like crazy.  I had all intentions of stamping yesterday.  Initially, there wasn't much going on - I had a little homework to catch up on, but then I was going to sit and stamp.  Somehow the day got away from me (in my defense, there was a lot of running around going on).  Tonight I came home from work just too darn tired . . .

Anyway, Wednesday evening after work is looking good.  I just HAVE to break out Papillon Potpourri & the new Butterfly Punch and try them out - just HAVE to!!!

I hope you're making time to stamp.  Get to it!!  :)

Happy stampin'!

PROMOTION!!!

I've been out of town for the past ten days, attending our nephew's medical school graduation in Seattle, and visiting with my husband's family in Gillette WY and Denver CO. My 81-year-old mother-in-law Alice and I travelled together - supposedly I was "helping" her, but really, the woman is pretty amazing for 81. I really think the only "help" she needed was negotiating the airports :) Anyway, what an honor to see "little Jake" become "Dr. Jacob R. Opfer"! Not to be outdone by ending the trip with a visit to my darling little great-niece, Hayley Rose, age 1 :)

Anyway, while I was out West, my sister-in-law, Cheryl, signed up and I finally got my promotion to Sr. Supervisor! That means, among other neat things, I got to choose a group name. After polling my downline girls, we came up with "Cross Country Crafty Chicks", since we're spread out from PA to WY to CA.

I'm always actively recruiting, so if YOU'D like to become a Cross Country Crafty Chick, head over to my website under "Join the Fun" and sign up TODAY! The starter kit is only $99, and during the month of June, you'll also get a bundle of products from the Patio Party suite valued at $48 absolutely FREE!! I will also be updating my blog soon to include FREE business tips and ideas for my downline, as well. Near or far, I will do all I can to help you promote YOUR Stampin' Up! business, whether you want to be a hobby or business demo!

Don't forget about my New Catalog Launch Party/BOGO Retired Sale this Friday, June 15th! Stop by between 7 and 9 p.m. for a peek at some new items, my BOGO sale, and some light refreshments :)

Happy stampin'!
