Using Up DSP Scraps

Once again, here's an "old" technique that's new to me :) -  Herringbone.  We'll be doing this in class in September.  Basically you use DSP strips to create your design.  These are basic card layers, which I might die cut using Framelits before I attach them to a completed card.

I've used some retired DSP from my stash:

This was my first attempt.  The Poppy Parade strips are a little bit "glaring", maybe??

Here's my second attempt.  Better?

I think I personally like the second one more.  The design is just a bit more subtle.  Either way, they remind me of quilts!!  Which one do you prefer?
Happy stampin'!
