Scrappy Girls

Taught the Herringbone technique at Stamp Class tonight - the girls LOVED it!!  It's so much fun to teach something so simple but impressive :)  While my customer/friends were busy with their creations, I enjoyed listening to them chat and catch up, and did a little creating myself :)  The three girls in class tonight are neighbors & friends of mine - two still actively teaching in the district, and one retired.  It was great to hear them laugh together as they designed their Herringbone card fronts and of course, I get a kick out of hearing the teachers' point of view about our kids and schools ;)

Here are a couple of cards I made tonight.  The girls skipped out on me before I could break out the camera (I think they're getting wise to me!!!).  Since the focus was on using up DSP scraps, the papers we used are now retired.  I'm still having trouble with my photography <scowl>.  Not sure why these are a little blurry:

I love the new Scalloped Tulle ribbon.  Even for an all-thumbs knucklehead like me, it's so forgiving.  Notice how on the top card, I scrunched it together for a more elegant look, while on the bottom card, it's more spread out and soft.  Super-cool, right??

Before my girls showed up, I took a few minutes (literally - these only took about 15 minutes to whip up!!) and made them some treats using the Ghoulish Googlies bundle from the Holiday catalog:

I pulled out my Candy Wrapper die (which I ALWAYS forget I have!!), cut a bit of the new Howlstooth & Scaringbone DSP, stamped the images from Googly Ghouls onto some tags from the Ghoulish Googlies bundle, added the googly eyes, and filled them with some hard candies.  Seriously took me less than no time!  Aren't they cute????

The Ghoulish Googlies bundle is a STEAL at $20.95 for wood mount, or $16.95 for clear mount.  You get the Googly Ghouls stamp set, and a kit containing a BUNCH of precut tags, glassine bags, the googly eyes, and some limited edition Pumpkin Pie Baker's Twine - plenty of goodies to make a BUNCH of treats.  Call or email me to order yours now!  It'll be positively gruesome if you don't get your hands on a set ;)  . . . and I just KNOW you want some of that scrumptious Tulle!

Well, I'd better head to bed.  ACLS training all weekend (bleah - hate when work cuts into my Saturday & Sunday!!!).

Happy stampin'!

Well, I finally busted out some of the new Core-dinations cardstock I ordered last month.  I am in LOVE!  This cardstock, available in the Holiday catalog, is absolutely awesome for adding texture to your papercrafting creations.  Right now it's only available in 3 SU! colors, Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler, and Gumball Green.  I'm hoping we get it in more colors in the Spring catty, because it just ROCKS.  Here's the sketch I came up with to challenge my team of Cross Country Crafty Chicks this week:

. . . and here's my card:

I try NOT to use retired products on cards I post here, but I just couldn't resist adding a little of the retired Spice Cake DSP to pull out the Early Espresso color.  Browns and aquas are some of my favorite color combos - here it's Early Espresso, Pool Party, and Crumb Cake.  It started out as a "man card", but ended up more feminine with the addition of the Pool Party; and on the inside, I've put a birthday greeting since I needed a b'day card for a co-worker.

I hope she likes it!  What do you think??

Silvery Melon Mambo

My online friend, Mindy Backes, and a few of HER friends have created a brand-new challenge blog, Fab Friday.  They posted their first card sketch this past Friday, and here's my card.  I am still struggling with getting good photos - really need to construct some sort of light box : /  Pardon the glares and shadows:

It's hard to tell in this photo, but I heat embossed the stamped image from Elements of Style in silver EP onto black cardstock, and added a touch of Silver Glimmer paper for the one little layer.  Colors used are Melon Mambo and Basic Black.  I didn't add a sentiment because there was just so much going on with this card & all the textures.  Trust me, it looks better "for real"!
Off to enter my card!  Play along with Fab Friday - challenges are ADDICTING!
