Puppy Pee, Clapton, and Other Mishaps . . .

Hi stampers!

Needed some SERIOUS mojo to finish the last card for my Calendar Club meeting this Friday!  Bad part is, I kinda can't remember what they told me last month they wanted to make - I THINK one request was for get well cards - hope so, anyway ;-)

Don't you hate when you KNOW you have a particular thing lying around somewhere but just can't remember where you put it?  That proverbial "safe place", right?  (No smart comments about my age, gang.)  I wanted to use some of our super-versatile First Edition Specialty DSP on this card, but darned if I could find the package.  Finally remembered it was in a box on my craft desk (yay), but wouldn't you know I stepped right in a puddle of puppy piddle getting to it (boo)??  Wet socks - YUCK.  Of course I'd just put them on, too >:-(

Yep.  We've got a new baby in the house.  A cute little blonde - no, not another kid (PUH-lease!!!).  An adorable American Eskimo mix we adopted in January.  Layla's her name, and unexpected presents is her game.  The kids have even come up with a song for her:

"Layla . . . got me on my knees, Layla . . . cleanin' up your pee, Layla . . . "

Personally, I think Eric Clapton does it a little better:

Here's an interesting Wikipedia link to the story behind the song:  Layla  Kinda worked out for him, kinda didn't.  Oh well.  Such is love :-)  Or as Mick Jagger says, "You can't always get what you want . . . "  Alright, alright - Clapton got her for a few years, anyway . . . :-P

Oh wait . . . I guess you want to see the puppy:

She looks sweet and innocent, doesn't she?  Don't turn your back.  You might just wind up with wet socks (or worse!!!!).

So.  Back to the card.  Can't promise my pretty little Get Well number will mend a broken heart, prevent divorce, or even keep your socks dry -  but I did find a little mojo and I'm pretty happy with how this turned out:

Since this needed to be for a guy or a girl, Always Artichoke seemed like a good choice here.  Plus I have the lovely AA Seam Binding ribbon, and you've gotta have some ribbon, right?  The First Edition DSP makes a nice neutral background, while the hearts folder from Adorning Accents adds a little texture.  Perfectly Penned is another favorite stamp set - the font is just elegant enough here without being "frou frou".  Came together nicely, don't you think?

Ah, spring!!  My wish for you today is someone to love, beautiful music to dance by, and dry socks (ha ha!).  I'll be busy for the next little while, so may not be posting for a couple of days.  Have a lovely weekend, my friends.

Happy stampin'!
