Memorial Day Thankfulness . . .

I got stuck behind a parade today.

It was cool.  I was on my way out to SHV to meet one of my downline to drop off some retired stamp sets & accessories.  Our upline is having a big sale next weekend, and B is taking my stuff to sell for me since I'll be away.

Anyhow, as I was driving down Bethel Church Road, traffic came to a standstill and I noticed tons of folks lined up along the road.  I kinda forgot about what day it was, but quickly remembered as I saw the police and fire trucks, the flags waving, the grins on the kids' faces, and the holiday air.  It was really nice!  My neighborhood didn't have a parade this year, so darned if I didn't feel like I was part of this one, by accident.  As I mosey'd along, stop & start, behind the other cars and the parade, it gave me time to think.

My stepdad was in the Navy, my father-in-law in the Merchant Marines.  I've got cousins in the service, too.  I've been to the Wall in Washington D.C. - and I'm grateful every day for the sacrifices of our soldiers.

In honor of Memorial Day, I pulled this card from the archives.  Some of the stuff's not Stampin' Up! and some of it's retired - but it's a good one.  I had made 20 of these a couple years ago for a craft show, but none sold, which I really thought was weird considering the show was at an American Legion.  I ended up giving them away to B, whose hubby is a Navy veteran, and she donated them to a military function of some sort.  Donated the stamp sets, too :-)

I know I don't need to remind anybody of all we should be grateful for today.  Enjoy the day and happy stampin'!
