Girls Gone Wild!

Hi Stampers!

This has been a very creative weekend for me :)  Friday evening was Calendar Club (our monthly gathering where we make 12 cards - 2 each of 6 different designs).  Saturday, I FINALLY got together with two of my local downline for some stamping and a business meeting (as an aside, it's been so long since I saw one of them in person that she's had another baby since then!!).  Finally, today was a Basic Technique class (heat embossing) and an Advanced Papercrafters class.

For Advanced Papercrafters today, we made tri-shutter cards.  First, I had them make a card base which they then wrote all the measurements and cutting instructions on.  This became their template, for them to keep and take home for future reference.

Next, we all created another card base and I set out my pack of Watercolor Wonder DSP, all the coordinating inks, a couple stamp sets, some Smokey Slate pieces and Whisper White cardstock.

Then we all went to town creating cards!  Here are the results:

First up is Jeannette's:

Next is Phyllis's:

Finally, mine:

OK.  I have NO idea why the photos are skewed the wrong way.  I've just spent the last 20 minutes trying to rotate them.  The originals in my file are the right way up.  I guess you'll have to tilt your head or your computer screen.  Sorry!!!

Anyway, aren't they all pretty?  I love how we all have the same card base but used all different DSP and ink to make our cards!  If you'd like to learn how to make one of these cards, do a search for "tri-shutter card" on the left sidebar and check out my blog post earlier this year.

Check out "Events" on my website to see what classes are coming up.  We'd love to have you join us!

Banner Card #2

Hi Stampers!

Ugh.  I am TIRED.  But now that I'm awake, I can't go back to sleep.  Are you like that?  Once I'm up, I'm up.

See, what happened is this.  I've been working in two departments since June.  My primary job is Nurse Case Manager for the Dr. Dean Ornish Programs at my hospital, but since our class census has been low, I've also been working as an RN in the stress lab.  Sometimes the stress lab doesn't need me.  I usually know that the day before :)

HOWEVER . . . . when I went in this morning - OOOOOOPS.  My team leader from Ornish forgot to tell me yesterday that my team leader from the stress lab called to tell TL #1 that I was downstaffed for this morning.

Yeah.  This is why TL #2 should be allowed to just call ME directly.  Oh well.  So now I'm up, but sleepy, but I know if I go lay back down, I'll just fidget and fuss.

Anyway.  Here's the last of the six cards we're doing at Calendar Club on Friday:

I really love the Fresh Prints stack from the Occasions catalog!  These little stacks are terrific for quick cards.  They're 4 1/2" x 6 1/2", so they can be cut all sorts of ways for easy, pretty card fronts.  I'm putting the stack out & letting my girls choose their favorite patterns for the cards they'll make.

The little banners are a snap, with two of the exclusive SAB products - the Banner punch and Banner Blast stamp set.  So fun!

Oh well.  Maybe I WILL go lay back down . . . but wait . . . .

. . . . .  Nahhhhhhh . . . . .   My latest Stampin' Up! order came yesterday.  Off to unpack my new goodies!  Hopefully I'll have some time this weekend to create and share some more blog posts and pretty projects with you very soon!

Banner Card #1

Hi Stampers!

I am WOEFULLY behind on keeping up with my blogging!  We've had some changes at work, which I'm really not supposed to talk about - so I won't.  The downside to it is that my schedule, which has never really been consistent, is even MORE inconsistent these days.  Ah well.  The only sure thing in life is change, I guess!

ANYWAY - quick post here with another of the Calendar Club cards I designed for this month:

Very simple card here.  I was going through my cardstock and thinking about the fact that I tend to use the same colors all the time.  Tempting Turquoise is really pretty, and for some reason, I just haven't used it much!  The bold Real Red and neutral Crumb Cake DSP from the Fresh Prints stack look great on it, and the crisp Chevron embossing folder adds just the right bit of texture.  I seem to have TONS of retired buttons in my stash, so I tossed a couple on & really like the results.  What do you think?

Crystal Effects Birthday

Hi Stampers!

Sorry I skipped a few days of blogging - I was away over the weekend, visiting my youngest brother in Bethlehem PA.  I absolutely love going out there - it's so different from Pittsburgh - and they always treat me like a princess.  They always make me feel very special and LOVED.  That's the best kind of visit :)

Today's card makes use of a product called Crystal Effects.  It can be used as an adhesive, as a coating for embellishments, brushed over a stamped image - lots of things!  Here, I brushed it over the stamped image of the candles and flames to add some texture and shine to an otherwise ordinary card:

Wondering about that stamp?  Here's a little secret - it's one of our wheels!  I peeled up the rubber image from the wheel and trimmed it down to a length that would fit on one of our clear acrylic blocks.  Then I mounted it using some of the mounting stuff we sell (can't think of the name right now - lol!!).  I've never gotten the hang of the wheels, but love some of the images.  Voila!!  A flat stamp I can handle.

I used Stamp n Write Markers to color the rubber, then "huffed" it with my breath to re-moisten the ink and stamped.  Love it!!

Petite Petals in Pink and Gray

Hi Stampers!

Here's a closer look at one of this month's Calendar Club cards.  The new Hardwood background stamp is really versatile.  At first glance, I'm sure you thought, just like I did, that this would be the ideal masculine card background.  It definitely is, but I think it turned out very sweet with the Petite Petals bundle:

I also really like how the stamp from Perfect Pennants "just" fit in the Bracket Label punch.  Layered it on a Scallop Circle, and it's just so cute!  Really love the Melon Mambo with the Smoky Slate, too.  I'd have to say this is one of the best cards I've made lately, if I do say so myself :)

Calendar Club Cards

Hi Stampers!

Here's a quick sneak peek of the cards we'll be doing for Calendar Club this month.  I've been having so much fun playing around with some of the new stamp sets and bundles from the Occasions catalog, as well as some of the Sale A Bration stuff:

I've already blogged a couple of these, so I'll be back in the next few days to blog the rest.

Had an unexpected day off work today, so of course - you know I was busy in the studio!
