Flowering Flourishes Thank You

Hi Stampers!

How nicely does Perfectly Penned go with Flowering Flourishes?!  I was going to add some rhinestones, but I wanted this to be mailable.

Flowering Flourishes is one of those sets that is just so versatile.  You can use it on its own, like I did here, or you can ink it up in a light color and use it with other stamps for a background look.  Perfectly Penned is elegant and complements the Victorian/vintage look of the flourish.

This card came together in just a few minutes.  Perfectly quick thank you notes!!

Petite Petals Cut-Out Card

Hi Stampers!

I'm blogging as I color my hair.

I HATE coloring my hair.

It's stinky and nasty and gloppy and . . . well, you get it.

I really don't even care about it turning grey, it's just that I have this coarse hair to begin with, and when it's grey it just gets COMPLETELY wiry and out of control.  Oh well.

Anyhow, today's card is another Pinterest CASE.  Today in the Pittsburgh, PA area the sun is out and the temperature is mild, although it's pretty windy.  I thought this was a nice spring-y card to share:

I'm also getting ready for tomorrow's craft fair, and as usual, although I always THINK I've got everything under control, there are 84,000 ideas running around in my head that I'd like to incorporate.

But as my momma says, "Keep It Simple, Stupid!"

Hope you enjoy today's creation :)

Pop Up Birthday Card in a Box

Hi Stampers!!

Another very quick post today - on my way out the door to work.

I made one of the popular "cards in a box" on my long crop weekend, and it proved to be so popular sitting on my table that the more and more ladies who started to come over to admire it prompted them to ask me to do an impromptu class!  Sadly, I didn't have enough supplies to have everyone make a complete card, but I DID teach them all how to make the basic box :)

The dimensions for this one came from Brianna Thompson's blog and video.  Brianna is part of Connie Heisey's PROVERBial Stampers, in which I'm about 7 levels down.  I just changed up the bracket measurements to 3" x 3 1/8" so I could cut them down to 1 1/2" x 3 1/8" and use part of the 3" of cardstock I trimmed from the 8 1/2" x 11" piece for the card base.

CUTENESS!!!

Fun note about Connie - yesterday she hit $1,000,000 in sales with Stampin' Up!  I am so proud of her and so proud to be in her distant downline :)

Perfectly Penned Hexagon Birthday

Hi Stampers!

Got to sleep in a little bit today since I don't have to be at work til noon (boy, did that feel good!).  Tonight will be another late one, as I'll be teaching a class tonight at the Wellness Center, something I definitely enjoy!

Today's card is a CASE of one Dawn Olchefske posted on Pinterest:

That pretty DSP is from Eastern Elegance.  Coastal Cabana is one of the 2013-15 In Colors and I just love it.  I added a little rhinestone to the top of the In Color Boutique Details just to give it a little bling.

This is one of the card multiples I made for the upcoming craft fair.  I'm getting excited to be there!!

Banner Birthday

Hi Stampers!

Long day at work today, but like I posted last night, we had a new cohort start today.  I really love when a new group starts.  The energy is amazing, both from the clients and the staff.  We staff members are always so happy to be working with a new bunch of people.  It definitely makes us "up our game" again - always refreshing!

Tonight's card is another CASE from one I saw on Pinterest.  The original that I admired so much was done on white cardstock.  I wanted something a little more rustic or vintage-looking, so I chose Crumb Cake as a base for the banners I cut from the Fresh Prints DSP Stack.  You know I've mentioned before how much I love these little stacks!  SO much prettiness in such a cute little package :)

I made 6 of these for the craft fair on Saturday.  Do you think I'll get any sales??

If you're in the Liberty Borough area on Saturday, stop by the Liberty Borough VFD on Haslage Street and see me!  I'll be there from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Sweet Baby Girl

Hi Stampers!

Quick post this morning before I head off to work.  We've got a new cohort beginning this evening - always exciting!  One of the things I enjoy most about my job as a nurse case manager for the Dr. Dean Ornish Program is meeting new clients and helping them to change their lifestyles and feel more healthy.

Anyway . . .

My team leader and his wife are expecting a baby girl any day now, and the team and I needed a pretty card for them.

Have I mentioned that Pinterest is my new best friend?  I'm not completely unfortunate when it comes to designing cards, but most often (as you know if you read my posts) I do a lot of CASEing (Copy And Share Everything).  I saw a card like this on Pinterest and changed it up a little to make it into a baby girl card:

This is so pretty that I'm thinking of using it for an upcoming card class.  What do you think?

Alright, gotta run.  Long work day ahead!

Seriously??

Hi Stampers!

Back from the crazy crop weekend yesterday but worked til 9 p.m. tonight.  I am TIRED!!!!

HOWEVER . . .

I did make 80 cards this weekend!! Seven individual designs for upcoming classes, a baby card, and 12 other designs of which I made multiples of 6.

I'll have a lot to blog about in the upcoming weeks.  So there's your teaser - check back tomorrow to see what I came up with!  There are some good ones, if I do say so myself ;)

Good night and . . .

Feed Your Head

Hi Stampers!

As I type this post today, I'm also thinking about the few things I need to pack up before I leave for one of my semi-annual crop weekends (usually referring to scrapbooking, but in my case, I'm normally working on cards and class projects).

The Other seems quite puzzled as to exactly WHY these four day weekends are so important to me, and, I'm sorry to say, at one point or another has been a little grumpy and resentful of my going away for "so long".

Here's the thing.

It took me almost my entire 50 years on this earth so far to figure out that I AM, essentially - an artist, a free spirit, a creative soul who chafes at rigidity, "expectations" and routine.

Yes, routine is important to many things - raising children, keeping the family together, maintaining a household, work . . . and I can cop to that when I need to.  I'm also an expert at "compartmentalizing" things; i.e., arranging them neatly in my mind and taking them out to deal with one by one as needed.  In my career as a nurse case manager, I can confidently say that I am VERY good at what I do and am proud to have earned the respect and love of my team and supervisors (it helps that I adore my job and clients, too - not gonna lie).

But when I think back to my childhood and teen years, the thing I remember most vividly was my love for creating things.  Painting pictures, learning to do macramé with my cousin, working with clay, writing stories, MAKING things . . . art class was always my favorite, and I had two really great teachers in junior high and high school.

Would I have gone on these long, crafty weekends when my children were growing up?  Probably not.  They needed me at home, because I had to work full time during that period of my life and I'd have felt guilty; not to mention the Other would've made it uncomfortable for me and I wouldn't have enjoyed myself.

But NOW - now is MY time, and I will make no apologies for it.  Going away for four days during which I can think, create, and dream to my heart's content is essential to my artist's soul and I've become really protective of these weekends with "my girls".  I've met dozens of women just like me - artistic, creative, FUNNY, wonderful women whom I've grown to love and look forward to seeing two or three or even four times a year.  I jealously guard this time with them, and with MYSELF.

Yes, it took me 50 years to learn who I am - I AM AN ARTIST!!

Happy Watercolor Three

Hi Stampers!

Last of the three cards using the Happy Watercolor set that I made on Sunday.  This one is all mine :)

I was trying to go for a bit of a vintage look here.  Stamped the flower image twice, once on the DSP layer, and once on Crisp Cantaloupe, then I cut the flower tops out and layered them to "pop" them off the page.

Hi Stampers!

Today I have another card for you featuring the Happy Watercolor stamp set.  I CASEd this one from a card I found on Split Coast Stampers and switched up a few things from the original:

That Burlap Ribbon is just the greatest accessory!  I love the texture it adds to the soft colors of the card.  Perfect finishing touch!
