Guest Stamper . . . My Daughter :)

Hi Stampers!

Today I have a card created by my lovely daughter, Rachel, who's going into her sophomore year at Slippery Rock University.  One of her friends is celebrating both her birthday and her first wedding anniversary soon, so Rachel wanted to make her a "birth-iversary" card (that just makes me laugh!!).  Her friend is also going to the beach soon.  Here's what she came up with (I helped with the "sand", made from our new Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper & sponged with Baked Brown Sugar ink):

Wondering where she got the "happy birthiversary" stamp?  Clever girl!  She used two stamps from Teeny Tiny Wishes & combined 'em!

Friends Who Know

Hi Stampers!

I love the "Friends Who Know" single stamp.  It makes me laugh every time I look at it, because I sure have a few friends that come to mind ;)

The mojo is really stalled, but I did manage to find a little and created this Blackberry Bliss beauty.  Blackberry Bliss is one of the new In Colors, and it's SUCH a rich, deep shade of purplish.  The photo just does not do it justice.  The mat is our GORGEOUS Brushed Silver cardstock, and I also used my Stampin' Dazzle Marker in Silver to color in the word "FRIENDS" - but it's super-hard to see in the picture:

I also wanted rhinestones, but in COLOR, so had to do a little experimenting.  First, I tried using my Stampin' Write marker - but then when I touched the rhinestones, the color came off on my fingers.  So I tried putting a little drop of clear nail polish over top - but then I "lost" the facets of the rhinestones & they just looked like little blobs.  So then I thought I'd try my Rich Razzleberry Blendabilities - the darkest shade seemed like it would - well, blend (ha ha ha!!).  Here's a little close up photo:
See how the rhinestone on the bottom right-ish looks like just a round colored thing?  The larger one is colored with the Blenda.  Much better!
. . . . and here's the inside of the card (I almost ALWAYS forget to stamp inside):
If you'd like to order any of the supplies I used for this card, just click on the link below:

So, like I said, trying to get back into the stampin' swing.  It's really hard because when I have time off, all I want to do is sit around or nap - but hey.  It's a start :)
Come back tomorrow and check out my guest stamper - daughter Rachel, who made the CUTEST card for a co-worker's birthday/wedding anniversary.  What she came up with just totally cracked me up!!
Happy stampin'!

Explaining My Absence . . .

Hi Stampers,

Since March, I'm sure you've noticed my posts have been few and far between.  Missing mojo is part of it, but here's the real reason.

In March I went for a routine physical because we had to change doctors due to insurance changes.  Routine physicals mean routine bloodwork.  Mine came up a little wonky.  I won't bore you with the details, but as a nurse and the child of a dad who passed from leukemia in 1968, I knew they were of concern.

My doc repeated it a couple more times, weekly, and it was still coming back "off".  No signs or symptoms of anything, so no worries . . . but to be sure, he sent me to a hemeoncologist.

More bloodwork through April and May, still abnormal.  So May 29th, I had a bone marrow biopsy.  Checked back in with doc on June 12th for those results.  The good news:  not leukemia.  The bad news:  it was still considered abnormal enough that she wanted it sent off to another lab for more testing.

Flash forward to this past Monday - the results are in!  Negative on all the things she was testing for.  However, a couple cells in their random cell count showed an extra "X" chromosome (but not cancerous) - see, I TOLD you I am a princess :)  That extra "girly" chromosome proves it (ha ha).  Have a couple elevated T cells too, but negative for anything auto-immune.  SO - she's sending it off to Mayo Clinic just to be sure they're not missing anything, I have to have monthly bloodwork done for a while, and my next appointment is in November.

To say my mind has been occupied elsewhere these past several months would be an understatement.

The only "symptom" I've ever had is a nagging tiredness, but anyone who knows me knows I'm too da** stubborn to give in to that.

Anyhow, for anyone who's still interested enough to keep checking into my blog, I promise to get some new projects up here soon.  I've got new goodies from the new catalog that I haven't even had the urge to play with yet, but plan to get into next weekend FOR SURE!  This weekend, I'm going to be searching Pinterest and my fellow demonstrators' blogs to get some ideas to get the creative juices flowing.

Hope your weekend is fun and CRAFTY!!!

Thanks for following me :)

Happy stampin'!
