Throwback Thursday - Memories of a Boy . . .

Hi Stampers,

I didn't post a "Wacky Wednesday" yesterday because I just wasn't feeling it.

About four years ago, I wrote a post about a dear friend of mine, Pat, who was like the big brother I never had.  He'd passed away very suddenly that previous October.

My friend had a son, named after him, who was one of the funniest, handsomest, brightest, and just "most-est" young men I ever had the privilege to get to know.  At one of the greatest times in my life, I was spending time nearly every day with a fabulous group of friends while our sons worked out together weight training for football.  Young Patrick was around often, tormenting the boys, teasing us moms, making the dads crazy, and lovingly aggravating his own dad, sister, and brother.

He was a wild one, and we all loved him so dearly.  Patrick was back and forth often from Dartmouth College, where he played football and earned his degree in Government.  I remember going up to see him play during one Homecoming Weekend - one of the most fun trips I've ever gone on - my first time to New England.

He was the kind of kid who had this really tough outer shell and bravado, but had the tenderest heart and protective nature.  I sharply reprimanded him one time over how he was treating a current girlfriend, and he hollered at me, and his dad hollered at me too for poking my nose in.  Holding my head high, I thought I'd successfully hidden my tears; but only a few minutes later, Patrick sought me out, wrapped me in a bear hug, and apologized for making me cry.  He couldn't stand to hurt anyone, especially a girl, no matter how old she was.

He had a beautiful little son who will be four next month.  Oh, how proud he was of that child!  When he was still on FB, you could be sure there would be photos posted every day.  I'd lost touch with him since his Dad's death, but thought of him often and wondered what he was up to, and who he was terrorizing currently . . . .

So many memories . . . .

Young Patrick tragically passed away on Wednesday.  He was 32.

I have every confidence that he and his Dad are currently raising Hell in Heaven (yeah, I guess that's a bit of an oxymoron), while God just shakes his head and smiles.

Godspeed, Patrick.  I love you, kiddo.
